About Enrico Letta
Enrico Letta is a prominent European political leader and the current President of the Jacques Delors Institute, a leading think tank on EU affairs and integration.
In September 2023, the European institutions entrusted him with a high-level mission on the future of the Single Market. His report, “Much More Than a Market”, was presented to the European Council in April 2024. It outlines strategic recommendations to prevent Europe’s economic decline in the face of US and Chinese competition, offering a bold and actionable vision for European renewal.
From 2013 to 2014, he served as Prime Minister of Italy, after holding several key ministerial roles including Minister for European Affairs (1998–1999) and Minister of Industry (2000–2001). Between 2021 and 2023, he was the Secretary of the Democratic Party in Italy.
Enrico Letta is also a respected academic. From 2015 to 2021, he was Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po, and in 2019 he became President of APSIA (Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs) for a two-year term. He holds a degree in international law from the University of Pisa, and a PhD in EU law from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.
